Luna’s Case Study: Canine Distemper
In his recent real-life case study, Dr. Pablo Borrás sheds light on the importance of timely vaccinations and recognizing the symptoms of Canine Distemper Virus (CDV).
Luna, a 10-month-old rescue from the peri-urban area near Buenos Aires, Argentina, found her forever home with a loving family. She received her initial veterinary check-up, complete with an internal and external deworming plan. However, a decision to delay her core vaccination protocol for a few days would soon lead to unforeseen challenges.
Fifteen days following her rescue, Luna exhibited concerning symptoms: coughing, lethargy, loss of appetite, and conjunctivitis. Her worried family rushed her to a referral veterinary center.
They were shocked to find out that Luna suffered from Canine Distemper, a highly contagious virus disease that affects dogs, and can be life-threatening if left untreated.
